The Band Against Cancer

For the second year in a row, our President, Paul Vella, and his bandmates got together for some good times and good music to raise money for a cause near and dear to them. After the success of last year’s event, the event was moved to a much larger space. On April 25, friends, family, and coworkers gathered at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA. As amateur musicians, the “Old Dogs” have played together in various bands for almost 45 years. This year they were joined by the incredibly talented (and much younger) Kim O’Brien on lead vocals.  As individuals, all have had friends or family affected by cancer. What began last year as a night of fun for friends and family turned into an event with almost 400 people that generated large donations for The Jimmy Fund.

Between ticket and raffle sales and very generous donations, the Band Against Cancer raised more than $40,000 for The Jimmy Fund.
