My fabricator was asked to value engineer the project with solid surface. The original specification was for granite. We provided a bid for 130 sheets of 1/2″ x 30″ x 145″ at $230 per sheet for Avonite’s F1-8016 White material to our fabricator. The fabricator appreciated the price but told us we were the same price as another major brand in the market. We needed a competitive advantage so we asked if they could optimize the sheet size. They looked at the project and told us that the optimal sheet size for them would be 28″ x 128″. This relatively small change in size saved the fabricator over 5.1 square feet of material waste per sheet! This lowered his sheet cost from $230 per sheet to $191 per sheet and the fabricator saved over $5K dollars in material cost on the job! Not to mention having virtually no waste to throw in his dumpster!

The Right-Sized Sheet Program allows fabricators to cut costs, reduce waste, and save time in large commercial applications.
Avonite Surfaces produces its FOUNDATIONS® Acrylic sheet colors in widths from 27″ to 60″ and lengths from 72″ to 204″ long. This allows fabricators to order the dimensions that best fit the project in order to minimize seams (which in turn minimizes labor time and costs) and waste. Minimum quantities apply and are usually easily met on mid-sized projects.
For smaller projects, Avonite Surfaces offers a “Buy the Length Program“. If you stick with a stock width, 30″ or 60″, you can change the length from 72″ to 204″ with as little as a one batch minimum. Example: You can order 1/2″ x 60″ x 120” sized sheets with a commitment of as little as 18 sheets!
Avonite’s Right-Sized Program is being successfully used for many projects including hotel bathrooms, military and student housing, and hospital rooms.
These special orders are manufactured in batch increments, and the Right-Size Matrices allow you to determine the number of batches required for your project. There are minimum order requirements and Right-Size orders are subject to a + or – 10% yielded delivery. Expected lead time is 6-8 weeks.
Taking advantage of these custom size options from Avonite is very easy:
- Choose an Avonite Surfaces Foundations Acrylic product (available products are shown in the Right-Size Matrices)
- Determine the dimensions of the sheets to be used in the application
- Determine the quantity of sheets to be used in the project
